Too posh to pitch? No problem at these amazing sites where glamorous camping is the norm. From safari tents in Africa to cliffside teepees in Madeira and futuristic bubbles in the Maldives, the hottest glamping options are out of this world.

If you’re over camping, with its missing tent pegs, sleepless sleeping bag nights and falling repeatedly over guy ropes scenarios (just Muddy?), it’s time to try glamping. The joy of rocking up and chilling out in a spectacularly cool pad which someone else has pitched/constructed/inflated (yes, really) for you and yet still being surrounded by nature = holiday dream.

Oz’s most famous campsite lies in the remote Red Centre and is super luxurious. Tents and lodges all have a view of Uluru (Ayers Rock), so you can sightsee without lifting your head from your pillow, and although you’re in the wilderness, there’s a pool, restaurant and bar. Bonza.

Holiday Jetson-style in a space age bubble in Jordan’s most magnificent desert. Muddy’s been here and the star-gazing, local food and excursions (we tried sandboarding down the desert dunes) are unforgettable.

I mean, what’s not to love about this luxe little teepee-for-two surrounded by banana trees and the ocean. There’s a natural swimming pool fed by a waterfall, shower, hammock and you’re a stroll from the nearby beach and village restaurants plus it’s only €130 per night *books stay immediately*.

Bubble breaks? Very 2022. We’re in love with this futuristic inflatable room on a patch of private beach, which also with an outside shower and spa beds. The fact the island’s in a UNESCO-protected bioreserve just adds to the (five-star) castaway allure.

One for adventurers, Chamba lies in the remote Nubra Valley, where you can hike to ancient villages, visit sacred Buddhist monasteries or take a camel safari before returning each day to a lavish Mughal-style tent with ensuite bathroom and butler service.

Muddy spent a summer holiday here once and remembers blissful days relaxing in deck chairs, cooking moules and star-gazing. Situated on Noirmoutier, an island off the west coast of France, the glamping’s five-star and there’s a communal pool, shop, restaurant and beach if you get the urge to leave your teepee (which you won’t very often).

Admittedly the Caribbean is better known for its all-inclusive resorts than glamping sites, but the set up here is so idyllic it has made the grade. Right on the beach, each off-grid tent has a large bed, outside shower and you can hire a firepit and barbecue. All you need to add is a chilled Carib beer and relaaax.

Many safari camps are special, but this is next level: six private tents with outdoor tubs overlooking a reserve bordering Botswana’s legendary Chobe National Park. The main lodge is an open-sided tent with library, bar, lounge and terrace and there’s a pool to cool down after your big five game drives.

Next to Yala National Park, famous for its leopards, this glamping site made from natural materials is simply stunning. Tents house four-poster beds, teak floors and beautiful bathrooms with copper tubs. A dining pavilion, bar and pool are a welcome place to relax after a day’s safari and don’t get us started on the golden sand beach on its doorstep.

Next level camping in a wild spot between Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, home to some of the best climbing, mountain biking and hiking experiences in the world. Interiors are retro swanky and each night there are complimentary s’mores around the fire pit.

Adult-only glamping spread over a private island – think bell tents, DJs, watersports, free yoga and a wellness centre. There’s a party vibe on the main beach, but on the opposite side of the island you can chill on a four-poster day bed by the pool and read a book in peace.

What a setting! Close to Hatta lake, these funky trailers make a great escape from the city for a night or two, with their mountain views and back-to-nature vibe. Kayak then hike back to base to relax around the barbecue.

Set high on a slope of Alp Nagens above Laax, Muddy checked out this pop-up glamping site earlier in the year and was blown away by the beauty. Each tent has a couple of comfy beds, table and chairs, lamps and rugs, there’s even a little mirror and plug sockets. Hikes from your tent are spectacular whichever direction you head, but particularly special is the Segnesboden, a plain with fast-flowing rivers and surrounded by mountains, like a backdrop from Lord of the Rings.
